About Ghostwriting

You may have heard that a ghostwriters help people write books, but is that all they do?

A ghostwriter is someone you hire to help you write something. That something could be a book, an article, a blog post, a song, or even a fictional story or book.

So, what is a ghostwriter?

Why hire a ghostwriter?

Lots of people write their own books, so why should you hire a ghostwriter?

Why indeed. The fact is, many if most of us don't repair our own cars, do our own taxes, build our own homes, fix our own plumbing, represent ourselves in court, or perform surgery on ourselves.

We engage a specialist.

While writing a book is obviously a personal journey, it is often a long, complicated journey, and hiring help to ensure your finish that journey with a book that is worthy of your thoughts, wisdom, and your name, sometimes means hiring outside help.

Get help to organize and start your book

As with any lengthy journey, it's always best to start with a destination in mind as well as a plan of how to get there.

So, whether you build an outline first that you follow as you write your book, or you have a quick list of topics and just want to write what comes to mind, I can help you develop your topics, determine your audience, and plan the general direction of your book.

And if you have trouble deciding what to cover and what to skip in your book, I can help.

Once you have your topics, subtopics, audience, and direction of your book mapped out, it's time to start filling in the blanks. It's time to write your book.

Typically, with the outline or topic list in hand, I interview clients once a week or so and generate the written content from those interviews.

I polish that and we take your book through two drafts, getting your corrections and your input on every piece.

Once you've written your book and you're happy with what we've done, it's time to publish your book.

Generally, you have three options here.

First, you can self-publish your book. This means that you take your manuscript to a printer/self-publisher or hybrid publisher and they will usually do a final copyedit and then typeset and lay out your book.

Second, you can opt to get your book published traditionally. For nonfiction books, this entails constructing a book proposal, which I can help you do. This proposal usually contains sample chapters, an author bio, a marketing analysis, a list of comparative/competing titles, and a complete outline with a short explanation about each chapter. Book proposals need to follow a specific format, and I can help you follow that format to the letter.
